About Us
African Women in Media is a pan-African organization dedicated to increasing the visibility, influence, and leadership of women in the media industry across Africa. Through training programs, networking opportunities, and advocacy initiatives, AWiM works to empower women journalists and media professionals to thrive in their careers and contribute to stronger, more inclusive media systems.
The organization supports professional development, leadership advancement, and gender equality in newsrooms, ensuring that African women journalists are equipped with the skills and opportunities needed to shape the future of media on the continent.
About the Training Program
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming journalism—from automated reporting and audience analytics to fact-checking tools and content personalization. While these technologies bring new opportunities, they also raise concerns about bias, ethics, transparency, and representation.
This training program aims to help African women journalists understand how AI works, how it is being used in newsrooms, and how they can actively contribute to developing gender-responsive AI policies and practices.
Participants will gain insights into the opportunities and risks associated with AI in journalism and explore strategies for ensuring that technology supports inclusive and ethical storytelling.
