Andela Africa Developer Training Program

Andela Africa Developer Training Program 2026 – Kubernetes & Cloud Native

About the Program

The Andela Africa Developer Training Program 2026 is a flagship Digital Transformation initiative designed to equip African technologists with one of the most in-demand skill sets in the world today: Kubernetes and Cloud Native technologies.

Launched through a powerful partnership between Andela, The Linux Foundation (Education), and the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), the program aims to train 30,000 African technologists and unlock global career opportunities in DevOps, platform engineering, and site reliability engineering.

This initiative removes long-standing barriers to world-class tech education—high certification costs, limited access to labs, and lack of mentorship—by offering open access, hands-on training, and certification pathways aligned with real industry needs.

Why Kubernetes? Why Now?

Cloud adoption is accelerating globally, and Kubernetes has become the backbone of modern infrastructure.

  • 59% of organizations are understaffed for cloud computing roles
  • 53% plan to increase public cloud adoption
  • Kubernetes skills are among the highest-paid and fastest-hired in tech

Yet many African technologists remain locked out due to cost and access. This program was built to change that—at scale.

Program Impact So Far (Proven Results)

The results from earlier cohorts speak volumes:

  • 5,600 learners from 46 African countries completed the 8-week training
  • 1,900+ participants earned official Linux Foundation certifications
  • Many transitioned into DevOps, Platform Engineering, and SRE roles within weeks
  • Certified participants reported significant salary increases
  • Employers consistently highlighted graduates’ job readiness and hands-on competence

This is not just training—it’s a career accelerator.

What You’ll Learn

Participants gain both theoretical depth and real-world experience, including:

  • Kubernetes fundamentals and architecture
  • Containerization with Docker
  • Cloud native application concepts
  • DevOps and platform engineering workflows
  • Hands-on labs and interactive assignments
  • Exam-focused preparation for certification success

Learning is self-paced, supported by expert mentorship, webinars, mock exams, and structured assessments.

Certifications & Learning Resources

Depending on cohort and performance, learners gain access to:

  • Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) Exam
  • Kubernetes and Cloud Native Essentials (LFS250)
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) Exam
  • Kubernetes for Developers (LFD259)

Only learners scoring 80% and above receive official exam vouchers—ensuring high pass rates and strong outcomes.

Who Should Apply

This program is ideal for:

  • African software developers and IT professionals
  • DevOps, Cloud, Backend, and Infrastructure engineers
  • Technologists seeking globally recognized certification
  • Learners ready to commit 8–10 hours per week
  • Anyone serious about building a future in cloud and Kubernetes
  • No relocation required. Learn, grow, and work from anywhere in Africa.

Beyond Skills: Community & Economic Impact

The program strengthens:

  • Local tech ecosystems
  • The global open-source community
  • African participation in high-value cloud roles

By enabling technologists to thrive without leaving their home countries, the initiative fuels sustainable economic growth and global collaboration.

As Andela CEO Carrol Chang puts it:

“Brilliance is evenly distributed, but opportunity is not. This program prepares technologists not just to code—but to lead where cloud, AI, and orchestration intersect.”

Program Timeline

  • Applications Close: February 15th, 2026
  • Training Starts: First week of March 2026
  • Format: Online, hands-on, mentor-supported
