The Department of Engineering is inviting applications for a fully funded PhD studentship starting on September 23, 2024.
This exciting project focuses on developing wireless implantable micro-coil technology, which aims to precisely control neuronal excitability through magnetic stimulation.
This interdisciplinary research sits at the crossroads of electronic engineering, neuroscience, and materials science.
The goal is to advance neuromodulation technologies, opening new therapeutic pathways for treating neurological disorders.
PhD Project Goals
- Design and model micro-coils.
- Develop a wireless system and fabricate the micro-coils.
- Characterize the effects of magnetic fields.
- Conduct experimental testing and validation.
Who Should Apply
We’re looking for a motivated candidate with a strong background in biomedical engineering, electromagnetic theories, mathematical modeling, electronic engineering, neuroscience, or materials science.
Experience in microfabrication, wireless power transfer, electrophysiology, or biomedical device development is a plus.
