Engineering Internship With Full Visa Sponsorship to Japan

As an engineering team at the forefront of robotics technology, we are seeking passionate students to work on research and development projects in the areas of computer vision, robot motion planning, optimization, security, and infrastructure.

This program is for people who enjoy applying themselves to difficult problems in robotics and working side-by-side with top industry experts worldwide.

This program will help you rapidly expand your skills in robotics and computer science, and your mentors will have experience from top-ranked academic programs. You’ll also gain the satisfaction of solving real-world problems.

Main Themes

Considering your academic career and existing skills, we can customize the theme and goals of your internship. Below is a partial list of the topics we’ve identified and are now accepting applications for:

(3 months internship programme)

Task: Provide a framework for initializing a search state from a provided pack formation or packing state.

Details:

  • Initialize the search state using the provided item placements.
  • Ensure that the state’s scoring is the same as if the state was generated via the search algorithm.
  • Ensure that the search algorithm behaves identically with the initialized state.
  • Provide unit tests for all changes and new features.

Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of experience programming in C++.
  • Extensive experience with search algorithms.
  • Grad students are preferred, but a highly qualified 3rd or 4th year undergrad student is also acceptable.
  • Experience programming in Python is a plus.

(3-6 months internship programme)

Task: Improve the existing stability checks, speed them up, and implement new stability criteria.

Details:

  • Consider the geometry of the container (planks in a wooden pallet, etc.).
  • Add lateral support checks.
  • Speed up the stability checks.
  • Add unit tests for all changes and new features.
  • For a 6-month internship, this task can be extended by implementing dynamic stability checks. For example, checking if the pack formation is stable while being transported on an AGV or conveyor.

Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of experience programming in C++
  • Extensive experience with algorithms and optimization
  • Knowledge of linear algebra – Grad student.
  • Experience designing or working with physics engines is a plus.
  • Experience with palletizing systems and knowledge of unit loads is a plus.
