What is the Chevening Energy Market Reform Fellowship?

The Chevening Energy Market Reform Fellowship is a prestigious program aimed at senior professionals in China’s energy sector.

If selected, you’ll spend three months in Dundee, Scotland, as a visiting scholar at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee.

This fellowship, funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, allows you to contribute to the UK-China Energy Dialogue through a focused research project, all while gaining new insights and experiences.

Who is Eligible?

To qualify for the 2025 Chevening Energy Market Reform Fellowship, you need to:

  • Commit to following all program guidelines.
  • Hold a postgraduate degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
  • Have at least 5 years of professional experience.
  • Be currently employed or enrolled as a PhD candidate (excluding UK/EU or USA universities).
  • Not hold dual British nationality, with certain exceptions.
  • Not be a current or former employee—or a relative of an employee—of His Majesty’s Government, the British Council, a sponsoring UK university, or the Association of Commonwealth Universities (within the last two years).
  • Plan to return to China after the fellowship ends.
