REMOTE JOB: Apply to join the Power Shift Africa team as an adaptation fellow

Join Power Shift Africa, a premier Pan-African think-and-do tank, as an Adaptation Fellow to drive climate resilience and sustainable development across the continent.

This six-month role (renewable once) offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a critical mission, building a solutions-oriented team to unlock Africa’s developmental pathways.

Objectives:

  • Gain hands-on experience in climate change adaptation in Africa
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange and collaborative solutions with local communities, policymakers, CSOs, and stakeholders
  • Support research, analysis, and reporting for advocacy and programmatic work
  • Contribute to initiatives like the Pan African Climate Adaptation and Resilience (PACAR) Coalition

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating and supporting PSA’s adaptation team
  • Aid in designing and executing campaigns to raise awareness and support for adaptation in Africa
  • Contribute to data analysis, policy briefs, research papers, and knowledge products on climate change adaptation
  • Engage with local communities to understand grassroots adaptation needs
  • Organize and promote virtual and in-person climate adaptation events
  • Build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Represent PSA in coalition activities and partner meetings

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Climate Change and Development, Environmental Science)
  • Strong understanding of Africa’s climate adaptation needs and challenges
  • Research, analysis, and communication skills
  • Ability to develop strategic plans, set goals, and identify necessary steps
  • Skilled in building relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to social and environmental justice
  • Flexibility, resilience, and teamwork skills

Ideal Candidate:

  • Permission to live and work in any African country (preferably Kenya)
  • Experience working in small, dynamic teams and remotely
  • Knowledge of campaigning and mobilization
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences

Remuneration: The PSA Climate Adaptation Fellow will receive a comprehensive stipend, tailored to their expertise, network, and qualifications.

The compensation package is designed to reflect the local cost of living, ensuring a fair and competitive offer for this full-time position.
