Fully Funded UNESCO Land Restoration Fellowships 2025

Imagine spending six months in the beautiful landscapes of Iceland, learning cutting-edge techniques in land restoration and sustainable land management.

The UNESCO AfriMAB GRÓ LRT Land Restoration Fellowship makes this a reality for dedicated individuals passionate about restoring our planet’s ecosystems.

What the Fellowship Covers:

If selected, you’ll receive:

  • Full coverage of tuition and academic costs
  • Travel and health insurance
  • A monthly stipend that takes care of all your living expenses during your stay in Iceland

What to Expect:

This fellowship is open to two candidates from African biosphere reserves actively involved in restoration efforts.

You’ll be hosted at the Agricultural University of Iceland, where you’ll immerse yourself in a combination of classroom learning, practical hands-on training, and field trips.

How the Training Works:

  • First 12 Weeks: You’ll dive into foundational and specialized courses, while also getting your hands dirty with real-world practice and field trips.
  • Final 12 Weeks: This is where you shine! You’ll work on a personalized project that aligns with your professional background and the needs of your workplace.

At the end of the six months, you’ll receive a Postgraduate Diploma in Ecosystem Restoration and Sustainable Land Management (30 ECTS), which you can proudly bring back to your community and apply in your work.
