Lakehead University Masters Scholarship 2025 in Canada | Fully Funded

The Lakehead University Masters Scholarship is a graduate student opportunity for international students willing to study in Canada.

Lakehead University in Canada is seeking a highly motivated and research-driven student with a background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing and LiDAR or a related field for a Master of Environmental Studies (MES) program beginning January 2025.

The program is titled: “Sustainable, Safe, Smart, and Connected Building Management to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions” and is administered by the Department of Geography and the Environment.

This research aims to develop a GIS-based indoor floor map for the Four Rivers Environmental Services Group’s new office space for better building management. The specific objectives are to;

  • collect available data related to building floors, energy consumption, and space planning.
  • acquire indoor Images and LIDAR data
  • build the indoor model for the office building and develop rules for navigation and space and energy management
  • design a model, smart workspace for future reference.

The Lakehead University Scholarship funding includes a stipend of $20,000 per year for two years. Funding assistance for conference travel, fieldwork and publication are also available.

Requirements

The potential MES student should have the following experience/skills:

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro software
  • Geographic Information Systems
  • Remote Sensing, including basic understanding of LIDAR
  • Computer programming skills
