Job Description

  • We are seeking a versatile and value-driven Backend Engineer with DevOps capabilities to join our dynamic development team in Nigeria.
  • In this role, you will work on advanced infrastructure solutions, focusing on cost optimisation, security, availability, and reliability of software applications.
  • Your contributions will be pivotal in enhancing the quality and efficiency of our engineering team while maintaining and improving the speed of delivery.

Job Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications, including APIs, server architecture, and database optimisation using object-oriented programming languages like Python and Java.
  • Experience using CI/CD tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Maintain existing backend applications written in diverse programming languages such as Node.js, Python, etc.
  • Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, with a focus on cost-saving strategies.
  • Ensure monitoring and alerting are integral parts of software applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on software design, implementation, and infrastructure.
  • Research and integrate new technologies to enhance the development and deployment process.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 4-5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or Backend Engineer.
  • Strong proficiency in backend development using languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js.
  • Experience with containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or DigitalOcean.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools and practices, including Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, secure, and well-documented code.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and cost optimisation strategies.
