Job Description
- We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Network Engineer to join our team as an NYSC Intern.
- The successful candidate will assist in maintaining and administering our company’s computer networks.
- You will be part of a team that is responsible for managing and supporting network systems to ensure network security and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Assist in configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN).
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
- Support and administer third-party applications.
- Ensure network security through access controls, backups, and firewalls.
- Monitor and test network performance; provide network performance statistics and reports.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Assist in resolving network-related issues and provide technical support.
Requirements
- Currently undergoing NYSC with a background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of network operating systems (Cisco, JUNOS, etc.).
- Knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF) and tools (e.g., ping, traceroute).
- Familiarity with security issues and technologies (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
