Programme Overview

The Union Maritime Global Graduate Trainee Programme is a two-year structured development programme designed to equip high-potential graduates with deep operational, commercial, and leadership exposure across the maritime industry.

Participants will complete four six-month rotations across key business areas, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Union Maritime’s end-to-end operations. Each rotation is supported by experienced line managers and mentors, ensuring continuous learning and professional growth.

Possible Rotation Areas

Graduate Trainees may rotate across the following teams:

  • Projects: Plan, launch, and deliver high-impact maritime initiatives
  • Commercial Operations: Monitor vessel performance and ensure efficient cargo movements
  • Top Fenders: Gain hands-on exposure to marine services and port operations
  • Technical: Explore fleet engineering, innovation, and maintenance systems
  • SeaLabs: Develop digital and data-driven maritime technology solutions
  • Human Resources: Support talent development, recruitment, and organizational culture
  • Finance: Deliver financial analysis and insights to support strategic decisions
  • Global Administration: Coordinate cross-border operations and business processes
  • TMS: Engage with vessel engineering, compliance, and performance management

Throughout the programme, trainees will gain cross-functional and international exposure, collaborating with teams across continents while developing strong technical and leadership capabilities.

For participants rotating to Singapore, there will also be opportunities to work in commercial analytics and strategy within the Projects team, contributing to data-driven initiatives supporting Union Maritime’s expansion across Asia and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Graduate Trainees will:

  • Deliver meaningful projects and contribute to measurable business outcomes during each rotation
  • Work closely with line managers, mentors, and peers, participating in midpoint and end-of-rotation reviews
  • Collaborate across multiple locations and time zones while promoting a culture of safety and inclusion
  • Engage in structured learning and development activities, including individual and group projects
  • Present project outcomes to senior stakeholders and build a strong portfolio of professional achievements

Programme Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in any discipline
  • Minimum degree classification: Second-Class Upper (2:1) or equivalent
  • 0–2 years post-qualification experience
  • Nigeria applicants: Must have completed NYSC by July/August 2026
  • Singapore applicants: Degree completion by July 2026
  • Availability to commence the programme in September 2026 for the full two-year duration
  • Strong communication, analytical, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in English and ability to work onsite at the selected location throughout the programme (Sept 2026 – Aug 2028)
  • Ability to work five days a week onsite and commute reliably to Apapa (for Lagos-based roles)
  • Legal authorization to work in Nigeria or Singapore (no visa sponsorship provided)
