2025 NSSB Local and Foreign Scholarships (Nasarawa State Scholarship Board)
The Nasarawa State Government, in a bid to alleviate the financial burden of its indigenes enrolled in Nigerian tertiary institutions, offers scholarships and bursaries.
The Nasarawa State Scholarship Board, under the Ministry of Education, is the agency saddled with this responsibility. They collect and collate applications from applicants and process and screen them before payment and disbursement approval by the governor.
According to the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board’s Executive Secretary, more than ten thousand indigenes of Nasarawa State have benefited from the board in a bid to alleviate the challenges faced by students amidst the current economic hardships gripping the nation.
The following are the types of scholarships administered by the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board;
- Nasarawa State Scholarship Bursary: This is an annual award to Bauchi indigenes across all tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
- Federal Scholarship Board (Local): This scholarship is offered to undergraduate and postgraduate students by the Federal Government in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Government.
- International Scholarships: These scholarships are sponsored by the Nasarawa State Government for indigenes to study at universities abroad.
- Bilateral Scholarships: These scholarships are offered to students as a result of the bilateral agreement between the governments of foreign countries (like China) and the Bauchi State Government.

2025 NSSB Local and Foreign Scholarships CriteriasÂ
- Be an indigene of Nasarawa State
- Be enrolled in a program in any accredited tertiary institution in Nigeria.
- Students in Higher Institutions like the university, Polytechnics, College of Education, etc are all expected to have a minimum CGPA of 3.0.
Scholarship PerksÂ
- The Nasarawa State Bursary is an amount between #15,000 and #30,000.
- The Governor of the state in 2024 announced a 50% increase in the amount disbursed to students in the state. As a result, a sum of #395m was disbursed to 1000 indigenes of the state.
